Outpatient Program (OP)

At Recovery In Tune, we provide three levels of outpatient treatment: partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient, our lowest level of care.

These programs include many evidence-based treatments, including counseling and medication-assisted treatment programs.

Our drug and alcohol addiction programs are centered on taking care of the whole person. This includes treating mental health conditions as well as substance use disorders. Continue reading to learn more about our outpatient program and how it can help you live a sober life.

What Is an Outpatient Program for Addiction?

There are many different forms of drug and alcohol treatment programs available at Recovery In Tune. Outpatient programs use a step-down method, where each level becomes less intensive, offering more independence as you move through recovery.

The substance abuse program that offers the most freedom is our outpatient program.

Our clients generally enter this program after completing another outpatient program, such as the intensive outpatient program (IOP) or our partial hospitalization program (PHP). The outpatient program gives people the chance to continue the progress they have already made.

In an outpatient program, the focus is on continuing to learn about substance abuse while actively living a sober life.

We work toward helping our clients refine their long-term goals and give support and guidance while they implement them.

Therapies in Our Outpatient Programs at Recovery In Tune

Helping people maintain the progress they have worked hard to achieve requires a lot of work. One of the main focuses of any outpatient treatment program is mental health care. From using psychiatry to group psychotherapy sessions, there are many treatment options.

In most cases, a person is not only working on treating a substance abuse disorder. Mental illness is a leading cause of self-medicating, leading to substance use and behavioral health disorders.

When this happens, it is called a co-occurring disorder and requires special dual diagnosis treatment. Treating the mental illness behind the addiction is the best way to make sure sobriety is long-lasting.

Here are the therapies we offer to address mental health and substance abuse in our outpatient programs.

Individual Therapy

One of the most effective forms of outpatient mental health treatment is individual therapy. One-on-one therapy is great for allowing people to feel safe and comfortable enough to talk about things that may be too overwhelming otherwise.

Individual therapy is an excellent tool for learning how to maintain your hard-earned sobriety. It also gives you the chance to strengthen and create new coping skills.

Family and Relationship Therapies

As our client works toward maintaining their sobriety, it is beneficial for family members and spouses also to seek family therapy as a group. Damage from a person’s substance abuse and behavioral and mental disorders can last long after a person enters recovery.

Healing essential relationships is critical to developing a solid foundation for your sober life. It is also important that the family and spouses of people who are recovering from addiction understand how to create firm boundaries and prevent enabling behaviors.

Trauma Therapy

People often turn to drugs and alcohol as a way to self-medicate after experiencing some form of trauma. Certain behaviors and actions are also commonly used to deal with overwhelming feelings attached to traumatic events.

Trauma therapy is a form of counseling that helps people understand how their trauma has influenced their current behaviors. This allows our clients to learn how to create newer, healthier coping skills and to break their previous cycles of harmful and destructive behaviors.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is one of the most commonly used forms of therapy in addiction treatment. CBT is so successful because it works by informing the client that the way they think affects how they act.

CBT teaches our clients that they are experiencing negative thought patterns, and changing these negative thought patterns can break the cycle they are stuck in. CBT also gives you the chance to work on breaking down overwhelming feelings into more manageable portions.

Adventure Based Therapy

For people who are receiving addiction treatment services in an outpatient setting, a great way to build confidence and team-building skills is by using adventure-based therapy. Adventure-based therapy places people in situations that they usually would not be in.

This type of therapy session takes place outside of a typical office. Therapy clients will find themselves whitewater rafting, rock climbing, hiking, or even camping.

Adventure therapy is a great way to build self-esteem and independence for adolescents and young adults.

Music Therapy

Many mental and behavioral health services use music as a way to help treat and manage substance use disorders and mental illnesses. Music therapy has been shown to be soothing for anxiety disorders, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Music has been shown to help people learn to regulate their emotions and thoughts. Learning to play an instrument, play a new piece of music, or write a new song also helps people build self-esteem.

Yoga Therapy

Another important and creative therapy used in substance abuse programs is yoga therapy. Yoga helps people move their body, and focus on their breathing, stress release, and mindfulness.

With time, this can relieve chronic pain, release dopamine naturally, and help a person focus their energy on something other than triggers and other stressors.

Who Can Benefit from a Substance Abuse Outpatient Program?

There are many different types of treatment programs for people who want to end their cycle of addiction. It can be hard to know which program is going to be the best fit for you or your loved one.

At this level of care, the program members have a lot more flexibility and freedom. In most cases, people who have chosen to enter an outpatient program have already completed more intensive programs.

Outpatient programs are the best fit for people who:

  • Have completed a higher level of treatment
  • Do not need as much structure as other programs
  • Have an active lifestyle
  • Are attending school, caring for others, or have a job

How Long Do Outpatient Programs Last?

Different treatment centers will require varying amounts of time in a recovery program. These amounts can be a matter of a few weeks to several months or even a year in some cases.

The unique part of our outpatient program is that there is no limit to how long you need to spend in it.

Outpatient programs are flexible and designed to work with and around our clients’ schedules. They were created to be a lifelong resource for people who need support in their continued recovery and desire to achieve their goals.

Addiction Outpatient Program Cost & Payment Options

Outpatient rehab programs are different from other types of alcohol and drug addiction programs. In outpatient programs, our clients are not actually admitted to stay in the treatment center, which lowers the costs of treatment.

The average cost of outpatient programs for drug and alcohol abuse is between $1,400 and $10,000, depending on the treatment center. Most outpatient programs average $5,000 for a three-month program. Longer treatment programs may offer a discount.

Recovery In Tune accepts the following forms of payment:

  • Insurance coverage: We are in network with most insurance providers.
  • Private pay: We can take credit card and cash payments.
  • Payment plans: We also offer our clients the option to make payments.

What Happens After an Outpatient Program?

While outpatient programs are official and have a set amount of time for treatment, recovery is never over. Dealing with a drug or alcohol addiction will be something you work on for your entire life.

Once a person has completed their outpatient program, they will be given resources that assist them in managing their addiction. These resources include, but are not limited to, support groups, group therapy sessions, individual counseling, and 12-step groups.

Many 12-step groups meet at almost any time of the day or night. Helpline groups are available for those experiencing a trigger or needing immediate support. We are happy to provide transportation to or from any meetings. Your recovery and sobriety are important to us.

Now is the perfect time to begin to heal!
